Bewl Blaster

Bewl Valley Sailing Club welcomes all dinghy sailors from clubs around the country to join us at Bewl for our first open event of 2013

On Sunday the 3rd February 2013, Bewl Valley Sailing Club will be hosting their annual Bewl Blaster Open Handicap Event. It will be a mass start race with the fleet divided into fast and slow handicap if there are more than 30 boats.

Racing will start no earlier 11.00am with a briefing for helms and crews at 10.15am. It is hoped to run 3 races each about an hour, with two races to count. There will be a separate start for Juniors who are most welcome.

We expect to see a good number of boats this year including a good showing from BVSC’s own active Flying Fifteen and Laser Fleets as well as some fast and slow handicap boats. .

Whether you are an experienced racer or a novice, this is the ideal event to start your season and you will be very welcome.

Bewl Valley Sailing Club is one of the largest inland sailing venues in the south east. They boast excellent facilities with a welcoming clubhouse serving meals and a well-stocked bar to help you warm up after the race.

Event Organiser Jo Mayes Rear Commodore of Sailing at the club said.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s event being bigger than ever. Last year was cancelled due to snow so we want to make this year special. Come along, we look forward meeting sailors from other clubs and classes. Start your season with a Blast at Bewl”

Entrance is £10 for single handed boats and £15 for double handers.

Tea and cakes will be served to all racers at the prize giving.The number of prizes will be dependent on entries.

Spectators are welcome and there are great views of the action from the clubhouse and some very attractive walks nearby.
