Thinking of joining?

New members are always welcome and we take pride in making Bewl Valley sailing Club a friendly, relaxed and informal place for new members.  We do not operate the practice of requiring those wishing to join to be nominated or seconded.  Just sign up, pay your fees and join us in enjoying the water sports fun that is to be had at Bewl.

Benefits of membership

Apart from the obvious benefits of:

  • the tide always being in!
  • no ships or fast moving private powerboats to avoid!
  • no dangerous currents!
  • the water is clean…because it is used for drinking water supply!
  • there are no ‘killer shrimps’ such as at some other large reserviors in the region

How to join

New members can download a Membership Application form from the website or join online. Once completed please return the form to the Membership Secretary who will post out your membership pack once the application has been processed.

Safety Policy

We have introduced both online membership renewals for convenience and EPOS (electronic point of sale) over the counter. This approach reduces staff time devoted to administration and gives you oversight and control of the information that we hold about you.

2013 price list

The 2013 membership rates are provided below.  The membership year starts 1st April (subscription due date).

It is now mandatory to declare dates of birth for all members, irrespective of age.

Full Family £219 Full Family membership is open to any person over 18 on subscription due date.The membership entitles the main member to enrol their spouse / partner and children under 21 on subscription due date at no additional charge. They may use all the facilities. All family members must be ordinarily resident at the same address. The main member is entitled to vote at any General Meeting of The Club.
Full Individual £198 This membership is open to any person over 18 on subscription due date.They are entitled to use all the facilities and vote at any General Meeting of The Club.
Young Adult £90 Open to any person aged 18 or over and under 25 on subscription due date.
Junior £57 Open to any person under 18 on subscription due date. Entitles member to use all facilities (except the bar). May enrol one adult as a social member free.
Social (inc. VAT) £89 Open to any person over 18 on subscription due date. Entitles main member and spouse to use shore-based facilities only. Social members cannot register a craft and are not entitled to vote at any General Meeting of The Club.
Winter £105 As for Full (family) but only for the period from 1 October in any year to 31 March the following year
Young Adult Winter £45 As for Young Adult but only for the period from 1 October in any year to 31 March the following year.
Junior Winter £29 As Junior but only for the period from 1 October in any year to 31 March the following year.

A craft fee is payable for each craft that you wish to sail at Bewl, even if you don’t keep the craft at Bewl.
 Junior craft – 1 craft only (Junior membership only) £90 Craft classified as Junior craft are 420, Cadet, Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Mirror, Optimist, Topper, Laser 4.7, Hobie 16, 29er, RS Feva, Bic Techno, RS:X, Topaz Taz, Spitfire and RS Tera
Optimist £53  A craft fee is payable for each craft that you wish to sail at Bewl, even if you don’t keep the craft at Bewl.
 First Board / Sail Number (Main Member) £115 A craft fee is payable for each craft that you wish to sail at Bewl, even if you don’t keep the craft at Bewl.
Additional Family Members Board / Sail Number £68 A craft fee is payable for each craft that you wish to sail at Bewl, even if you don’t keep the craft at Bewl.
Winter Craft £105 A craft fee is payable for each craft that you wish to sail at Bewl, even if you don’t keep the craft at Bewl.

Other Fees
Duty Roster Waiver £150  Payable by a Main member who is not able to perform a duty.
Boat Space Cutting (per space) £40  Payable if you would like your boat space cut and tidied 3 times per year
