The Fleet for u18’s
Your Fleet Captain is Lewis Keen
This is the exciting and a RYA Supported Class for Junior sailor’s: These are the classes which the RYA Youth Steering Group believe may develop the necessary skills, knowledge and experience sailors require to successfully progress into Youth and Olympic racing. They will demonstrate this by consistently feeding smaller numbers of sailors into RYA Transition Training, National Youth Squad Programmes and later into Olympic Development and Performance Programmes.
The RS Feva fleet at Bewl Valley Sailing Club supports the RYA program, however the priority is to include all young sailors’ to improve their skills in both helming and crewing a double hander sailing dinghy, so that they can compete at Club, Open, National and World events. We are fortunate to have some very quick sailors including some who have already been to National and world events, giving us a very high standard of racing.
Training
The RS Feva fleet will have training from top coaches supported by the training team at Bewl, and who have all achieved much in the world of sailing including young names such as Francis Peters who is in the Olympic Development Squad forRio. Have a look at this

The best training is time on the water to put into practice what they learn at structured training days, so parents please support your youngsters and help them get to as many sessions as possible including club racing on Sundays, the more RS Feva’s on the water the better.
Racing
There is club racing on Sundays and typically there are 4 races (committee boat starts) during the summer and 3 in the winter.
There are events throughout the year from club open racing, RS Feva Grand Prix, Nationals and World events and information on how to enter these can be found on the RS Feva Website http://www.rsfeva.org.uk/?page_id=11
As a Club we also have a Winter membership which runs from 1st October to the end of March each year. See The Club tab for details on winter membership.
We have a great stretch of water to race upon and our fleet numbers are going from strength to strength – I hope you decide to come and join us.
Fleet ethos: The Fleet is for under 18’s, to enjoy sailing and to meet new friends.
Parents’ participation is encouraged in the form of support, taxi’s, maintenance and of course fuel. (Plenty of sweets, for energy on the water).
