Bewl Valley Sailing Club welcomes all Flying 15 sailors from clubs around the country to join us at Bewl for our Flying 15 Open
On Saturday 23rd and Sunday the 24th March 2013, Bewl Valley Sailing Club will be hosting its annual Bewl Flying 15 Open. The event will include 2 races Saturday afternoon and a further 2 races Sunday morning.
Racing will start no earlier than 1.00pm with a briefing for helms and crews at 12am.
They have raced with up to 24 boats in recent years and hope this year will be better still, including a good showing from BVSC’s own 38 strong Flying Fifteen Fleet.
On Saturday afternoon after racing the club will host a meal for competitors, your friends and family are welcome to come along too. The meal is £8.50 a head and can be booked via the website.
This event is seven weeks before the Inlands at Chew Valley where points towards the Worlds can be earned, so it is an ideal opportunity for those who don’t sail during the winter to make a start on ensuring everything is working properly and to get back into racing trim.
Bewl Valley Sailing Club is one of the largest inland sailing venues in the south east. They boast excellent facilities with a welcoming clubhouse serving meals and a well-stocked bar to help you warm up after the race.
Event Organisers Robin Taylor and Jo Morgan FF Fleet captains at the club said.
“We are really looking forward to this year’s event being bigger than ever. Last year was cancelled due to low water so we want to make this year special. This year the lake is full, and we have new launching facilities to show off. Come along, we look forward meeting sailors from across the country to start your season at Bewl”
Entrance is £20 a boat, The NOR (click here), Registrations can be made online here
On Sunday after racing tea and cakes will be served to all racers at the prize giving.
