What a terrific day it was at Bewl today!
The clouds were a bit grey but the wind was superb enabling the Bewl Blaster to live up to its name. The fresh breeze, about force 4, was frequently punctuated with vicious gusts keeping all helms and crews fully alert.
There were 18 entrants including 4 visitors from other clubs. The competitors opted to sail the three races back to back and have lunch afterwards; so 3 races of about 50 minutes were run. A Merlin Rocket won the first, a Flying Fifteen the second and a Laser Radial the third suggesting that the course and wind did not bias the PY handicap.
The overall winners were Steve and Sarah Cockerill, from Hayling Island Sailing Club in Merlin Rocket 3745. Adam Page and Mark Munday, from BVSC, took the Asymmetric trophy in their RS 400 and Quentin Bes-Green, from BVSC, the Slow Handicap bowl.
