Flying Fifteen update 27

For those who were not able to make it the Dinner went with a swing, old friendships were reinforced and hopefully new ones encouraged. On our table Chris Evans who has just purchased FF3510 was telling us of his plans for racing with his daughter Hannah, and Richard and Jane Page were updating us on their anticipated participation in the afternoon series in the spring. It was good to see Crispin in circulation and hope it will not be too long before he is up to giving racing a try again. The same sentiment applied to Dick and Linda, all people we miss on the Sunday morning start. Equally, the same thing could be said of Noel West, another guest and there was speculation on whether he could be encouraged to return.

Overall the evening proved an excellent finale to Keiths stewardship of the fleet.

The Sunday morning race very nearly did not happen through lack of wind but our own feeling was….its a lovely morning ……we are stuck here until the afternoon AGM …. lets do it. In the event five Fifteens set off for a drift round the quadrilateral course 7-5-2-1 all to port (actually getting the hang of this numbering system). A measure of the excitement this involved can be gleaned from the fact that it took over an hour to do the single lap. Somehow or other Gio and I managed to drift around marginally faster than John MS, Jo eventually decided she could not delay any longer starting to write her speech for the AGM, likewise Chris and Glyn decided enough was enough, leaving Keith and Jennie in third place.

Thanks go to Roger B and Geoff P for persevering, as Race Officers, with our need to get on the water despite the weather.
