The Boats

The Club operates five fleets of dinghies, Wayfarers, Optimists, Toppers, Picos and RS Fevas.

Suitable boats will be used for the course in which you participate.

It is expected that participants of Seamanship, Competent Helm and Start Racing and Advanced Sailing courses will use their own boats.

Sailing is Fun but members new to sailing should note that you will get wet! Please bring lots of suitable clothing for sailing (jeans are NOT a good idea) and a change of clothes for the end of the day. All sailors are required to wear adequate wet or dry suits between the 1st November and the 30th April. During warmer weather you will need a hat and sun block, loose fitting trousers, sweatshirt, windproof-waterproof top and non slip shoes (e.g.trainers) they will get wet. Anyone going on the water must wear a buoyancy jacket. The Club has a supply but if you have your own please bring it. Please remember it is always colder on the water than you think so make sure that you have plenty of layers to put on.

Swimming – All course participants must be able to swim
