Club Race Officer & Assistant Race Officer Training

Have you ever been interested in race management and would you be willing to spare one or two days per year and join our race management team?

We are running a series of Race Officer and Assistant Race Officer training sessions through out January and February 2008 run by Richard Kingsnorth, who would like to invite you to come along and have a go.

ARO (Assistant Race Officer) is a session devised by Richard Kingsnorth for BVSC and covers the basics that a first time ARO needs to know to be of real use and to be able to understand and enjoy the event. We are holding one ARO session on Wednesday Evening 6th February 2008 at the Clubhouse.

The CRO (Club Race Officer) course is an RYA course that Richard slants towards BVSC requirements (an RYA attendance certificate is awarded on completion) and is strongly recommended for anyone who would like to attend a RRO (Regional Race Officer) course at a later date. It is also very useful for anyone who races in that it gives an insight into the thought process and constraints of a race officer. The training takes one day or two evenings and we are running one Saturday session on 5th January and two Wednesday evening sessions on 13th and 20th of February.

We plan to offer “on the job” experience throughout March for everyone that attends these sessions when you will be invited to join Richard who is running the Spring Thaw Open Series.

Please contact the office to make a booking when you will be given further details and timings
