Activities
Just a few words to introduce myself, my name is Beverley Nunn, and I am the Youth Captain at BVSC. There is loads going on for Youth Sailors within the club, so take a look below, and if you would like any more information, don’t hesitate to contact me! Please note, all bookings for Youth Sailing are made through the club office.
Saturday Club (£15 per session plus £10 if using a club boat)
This is a full day’s tuition by RYA instructors, for all Youth Sailors who have their RYA stage 2 or above. The day includes a mixture of training, games and racing, and a chance to meet other Youth sailors within the club. Saturday Clubs are more popular than ever, and for most of the year we run the days twice a month. Future dates are available from the website or the club office, or on the notice board outside the changing rooms. Bookings MUST be made two weeks in advance, so that we can secure the final numbers in order to get the right number of instructors. Can I also please encourage all of you to be rigged, changed and ready to sail by 9.30, don’t forget, quicker start = more sailing time!

SHRIMPS (£12 per session)
SHRIMPS is a new activity for 2007. If you want to attend Saturday Club, have achieved Stage 1, and want to get some more practice, then come along to SHRIMPS! Run alongside Saturday Club, you get the opportunity to get training from RYA instructors, practise your sailing, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!! For more details, contact me, or to book contact the club office.
Youth Sailing Week 19th - 23th August

Optimist Training (£10)
Bewl Oppies are back!!! This is a wonderful opportunity for any Junior sailor aged from 8 upwards who has their RYA Stage One! Specifically for Optimist sailors, this training session is half a day, and arranged by Steph Banham (‘Oppy mum’) and allows time on the water to gain confidence, learn new skills and theory, but most importantly have fun with other Optimist Sailors! This is a relatively new session, so dates will be published in the near future, once a formal plan has been arranged. For more forthcoming dates or other information contact me on the details below or Steph Banham via the club office.
Using a club boat…
If you don’t have your own boat but would like to attend Youth training sessions, then club boats are available to use for the day. We have available Optimists, Toppers, Picos, and Fevas. If you are unsure which boat to use, then please contact me to discuss suitability. Please can I ask that when you book onto Saturday Club or SHRIMPS, can you please specify in the allocated space, which club boat you want to book (please note that Feva and Picos may have to be sailed with 2 people). This enables me to ensure we have enough boats for everybody to sail. Please remember that if you use a club boat, you are responsible for rigging and packing away the boat for the day! Also note, that if you do not specify on the application forms which boat you want to use, then you may have to use a boat that you do not want to sail, or end up sailing with somebody else. Club boats are booked on a first come first served basis, so get your forms in early to ensure you get the boat you want!!!
