Windsurfing Fleet

Our New Fleet Captain

Hi, I’m Jane Crane. I have been a member of Bewl for twenty years and felt that perhaps I should put a little bit back into the sport that I love at a place where I enjoy being with my family.

I first came to Bewl after learning to windsurf at Leybourne and then wanting to find a club to join where I could continue and hopefully improve. I was involved with helping Bewl Windsurfing when it was first set up, helping instructors with all age groups. I loved it!

I am married to David and have two daughters Emma and Abbie who both windsurf and have recently started to learn and enjoy sailing in their Topper.

I am a person who gets very enthusiastic and will always endeavour to do my best, but obviously my role is within a team and I would always love to hear from any members about what they would like out of their club, so please never hesitate to let me know and I will do my best.

My contact details are telephone 01622 820127 or my email is available via the club office.

The Windsurfing Fleet

The Windsurfing Fleet at Bewl has been part of the sailing club for many years, we have a fleet that covers the whole age spectrum, all of us with different abilities and interests within the sport.

We welcome youngsters to our fleet where they will be helped and supported by us, we are hoping to start Saturday morning clinics and this will enable kids, (and adults), to join us and learn about different techniques etc. Keep an eye on our regular news section on this page for details. We have a Team 15 group called the Bewl Blasters who compete against other clubs (see link to pictures below).

We mainly meet on a Saturday, but we are able to windsurf on all club days and during the week if you sign in at the fishing lodge with your competent helm or Level 2 RYA Windsurfing certificate.

Our racing has become a little sketchy at the moment and we are working on this, but on most Saturdays we intend to hold informal races, the type being dependent on the wind and mood. Those who like blasting across the reservoir can sign out and use our club GPS units to try and beat those at the top of the speed ladder (see below).

We are a very social fleet who always enjoy a get together or a trip to the local after a good days sailing.

Find us on the beach and let yourself be known.
