Racing at Bewl

Racing is organised and managed by members for members, young and old. There’s something for everyone giving members an opportunity to participate at whatever level their sailing takes them. We encourage new members and those new to dinghy racing to “have a go” through our Introduction to Club Racing sessions, run throughout the year.

We run a comprehensive programme of Sunday series racing all of the year round with starts for the adopted and handicap fleets. Open events are held in addition to our club racing programme across the year giving visitors access to our fantastic lake and a chance for us to compete with other club members.

Race management sits under the overall management of the Sailing Sub Committee who meet regularly to develop our racing programme. The committee is planning (after some consultation) some exciting new ideas across this winter. We have already agreed to introduce a new adopted class, the RS 400, and to organise Asymmetric racing to cater for the large number of craft of this type.

The race management teams are made up from qualified club race officers and assistants who perform their duties on a rota basis. We are always looking for new talent in this area, so if you are interested in having a go, please contact your fleet Captain.
